Otonabee College Awards Ceremony
The Otonabee College awards ceremony is hosted by the College Office, Cabinet and Residence Life as an opportunity to recognize any student who is selected as a recipient of an Otonabee College prize. The full list of College awards can be found below, as well as pictures from previous award ceremonies.
College Office Awards
Academic Leadership Prize
Awarded to a member(s) of the College who has achieved an academic average of 80.0% and above, and has made an oustanding contribution to the life of the College in a leadership role.
Ivana Elbl Prize
This award honours Ivana Elbl and is presented to a student, staff or faculty member at Otonabee College who has shown compassion, devotion and dedication to the life and spirit of the College.
Otonabee College Bob Annett Prize
Awarded to the full-time student of Otonabee College whose academic performance is the most improved between the end of first year and the end of second year. During his 30 years at Trent, Professor Annett was committed to encouraging students to reach their potential and to benefit the fullest from their experience at Trent. An honorarium of $130.00 accompanies this prize.
The Gordon Johnston Prize for Artistic Excellence
This award honours the fifth Master of the College and is presented to a member or friend of Otonabee College, who has made a contribution to the College through artistic excellence. An honorarium of $50.00 accompanies this prize.
Otonabee College Common Room Prize
Awarded by the Academic Advisor to the Otonabee College student with the best academic performance after the completion of 5.0 credits.
Otonabee College 10th Year Prize
Awarded to an Otonabee College student on the basis of academic performance (a cumulative average of 85.0% or above) and participation within the college community. This prize is selected by the College Head and Academic Advisor, and accompanied by an honorarium of $100.

College Heads Prize
Awarded to three members of the graduating class who have made an outstanding contribution to the life of Otonabee College.
Alumni Recognition Award
This is presented annually to a graduating student who has made a continuous contribution to Otonabee College. The winner's name is added to the permanent wooden plaque displayed in Blackburn Hall.
Eileen Gallagher Otonabee College Spirit Medal
This medal is the gift of alumni, friends and family of Eileen, the late wife of Professor Finn Gallagher, who was the fourth Master of Otonabee College. This prize (companion to the Scott Rennie Award), is awarded to a deserving female Otonabee College student.
Scott Rennie Otonabee College Spirit Medal
The gift of alumni, friends, and family (and companion to the Eileen Gallagher Award). Awarded by Alumni Affairs to a deserving male Otonabee College student.
Elwood Jones Prize in History
Awarded to an Otonabee College student enrolled in single or joint-major in History, who has completed at least 5.0 credits and has the highest cumulative average. It is awarded in recognition of Professor Elwood Jones' many years of service to the History Department at Trent University and to Otonabee College (Master 1978-83 and Senior Tutor 1998-2003). An honorarium of $100.00 accompanies this prize.
The Douglas Bruce Memorial Prize
Created in memory of Douglas Bruce, who began his studies at Trent at the age of 78 and took ever upper-year Greek or Latin course offered within Ancient History and Classics until he passed away in 2004 at the age of 87. The prize is awarded annually to an upper-year Otonabee College student for excellence in the study of the ancient world.
Otonabee College Sociology Prize *New in 2015/16*
In recognition of a graduating student enrolled in the Sociology program for their outstanding contributions to the Department and College Life.
Otonabee College Excellence Prize
Awarded to a graduating student who has consistently combined academic excellence (a cumulative average of 80.0% or above) with all-around participation in student government and a contribution to the life of the College.
Otonabee College Prize
Awarded to the Otonabee College student who has achieved a cumulative average of 85.0% or above at the completion of 10.0 credits.
Otonabee College Spirit Awards
These certificates are presented by the President of Cabinet to three graduating students, selected by members of the graduating class, who have made outstanding contributions to the College.
